Before Olivia Addo led Aya Health, she was the one at the bedside. For more than twenty years, she provided direct, hands-on care to older adults and individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, ALS, and other complex conditions, along with people recovering from surgery and those receiving hospice and end-of-life care.
That work shaped everything about how she leads today. She learned what it actually takes to preserve someone’s dignity and independence in their own home, not in theory, but in the daily details: how you help someone bathe without taking away their sense of control, how you notice a small change in condition before it becomes a crisis, how you keep a family informed without overwhelming them.
Alongside her caregiving experience, Olivia built a career in highly regulated industries. Her professional experience includes risk-based examination, regulatory compliance, governance, licensing, financial planning, and analysis. This work has given her a strong understanding of what regulators and institutions expect from organizations seeking the public’s trust.
That combination is unusual in home care: a leader who has done the direct care work herself, and who also understands how to build the compliance systems, documentation, and oversight that keep an organization accountable.
